Stretchable polymer composites with ultrahigh piezoelectric performance

Abstract Flexible piezoelectric materials withstanding large deformation play key roles in flexible electronics. Ferroelectric ceramics with high coefficient are inherently brittle, whereas polar polymers exhibit low coefficient. Here we report a highly stretchable/compressible composite composed of ferroelectric ceramic skeleton, elastomer matrix and relaxor ferroelectric-based hybrid at the ceramic/matrix interface as dielectric transition layers, exhibiting giant 250 picometers per volt, electromechanical coupling factor keff 65%, ultralow acoustic impedance 3MRyl cyclic stability under 50% compression strain. The superior flexibility properties attributed to electric polarization mechanical load transfer paths formed by mismatch mitigation between fillers layer. synergistic fusion ultrahigh these polymer composites is expected drive emerging applications smart

We have manufactured a highly conductive and stretchable composite by backfilling a preformed graphene/MWCNT aerogel with poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS). The electrical conductivity of our product can reach 2.8 S cm(-1) with only 1.3 wt% graphene/MWCNT loading, and remains constant after 100 times repeated stretching by 20% and 5000 times bending.
